Soooooo apparently the great minds at the view decided to..hmmm shall we say "intelligently?" discuss Rev. Jesse jackson's use of the N word lately.
for your viewing pleasure:
When I hear people argue about the use of the N word whether they are black or white i feel like ripping my face off.
Here is your typical N word argument:
white guy: what up n***a
black guy: hey you cant use that word
white guy: but u used it
black guy: cause i can
white guy: why
black guy: cause i am trying to take away the power of that word
white guy: ????
black guy: i thought so n****a
Don't worry white guy I am confused too(and if you are white and claim to understand you really need to stfu) it makes no sense... sooo anyways...
The only way this crap can finally end is if people calm the f*** down and stop being so damn sensitive. its just a word. i personally think everyone should say IT at least twice a day to someone not in their same color range everyday for at least a year......why do this? you ask.
well.... its not what you think... I just want to make the blond chick from the view cry again i hate her.

Thank you, lets try to make the world better one nigger at a time.
That's Not Hott will join you on your mission...

Actually the conversation would be more like:
White guy: What's up nigga?
Black guy: 'Smack'!!!!!
End of conversation.

I strongly disagree with you. The N word should not be a word that blacks use. It is just a "word" but with that being said, it was used to put blacks in their place and makes us feel like second class citizens, so it is not "just a word". Words hurts and the N word, was used to demoralized blacks and put us in our place. Too many people dies fighting for us not be described by that word, so I think it's a slap in the face of all those that die so you can be allow some of the freedoms you have today to used that word. Being a asshole is okay now and then but somethings are just not joking matters. I get sad every time I hear one of us use this word to describe ourselves.
Rufie
HI, Rufie
I definitely understand your argument, and you bring up a lot of key points.... But.......
I think when it comes to our disgust of the N word we need to ask ourselves this.... was it the word that held us down? Or. Was it society that held us down? People didn’t die to stop being called the N word. They died to gain the right to vote, the right to be considered a citizen, to be equal. That’s what they died for...
I can’t say you are wrong to feel a certain way... but the fact that this word can affect you and many others in such a potent way. Shows that way as a people still have a long way to go.
The only way to take the sting out of the N word is to do just that “take the sting out of it”. It exist, its here nothing we do can erase its existence. The fact its okay for some black people to use this word and get so fired up over anyone else using it, stinks of hypocrisy. Since the ones we claimed died fighting this word, actually died so we all black white Spanish whatever can all do and SAY the same things.
Javi
Javi,
The N word is associated with intolerance, ignorance, racism, murder, injustice, etc. Although I agree with you that it was much more than the word, that particular word is associated with so much pain for black people so why use it? In my opinion any use of it is a disrespect to those that fought for our freedom. It is not just about the N word because the N word is just a word but it is about what the word represents and what it meant and still means for black folks in this country. It is a derogatory word and regardless of how we try to turn it around and make it into something beautiful, it is not because it comes from a place of hate and injustice and no amount of affection in saying it diminishes that.
You make a good point here, Javi. There are two options for people to choose who aren't happy with the current status of the "N word", or any word for that matter. You can try to suppress it and hope that in time the word itself will become unused and archaic. But the problem with this is the number of black people who (over)use the word on a daily basis. It just seems like it won't go away.
So the other option is to change the word's meaning. An example of this is the word gay. Its meaning (or it's popular usage at least) has been changed from "happy" to "homosexual" over the last, say, 25 years. This is, in my opinion, the best way to deal with the N word.
Of course, I'm white, so my opinion here is irrelevant. :)
LMAO!!!! Enoch that is a really good point. People make'n so much noise over the word nigga but forget about all the other words that has been changed. Should they not be just as important?
I think that I will enjoy your blog tremendously.
Nice conversation. That's how I see it. Either everyone use the word or no one does. (Come to think of it I don't want any white person calling me the forbidden word)
Congrats on your blog!!
PS: I hope that I don't have to wait 3 weeks for another posting
Great point Enoch
We appreciate your opinion and it is relevant even though you are white.
I have no idea why you thought you needed to say that you were white.
You know what???!!! I completely agree with you javi. I believe that too many people place too much emphasis on words. I don't want to be called the "N" word and I won't call anyone the "N" word, but not because it is so bad to use the "N" word but because people got freaking names. Use them! Stop describing people by calling them things like the "N" word and the "B" word, call people by their birth names!
My apologies, I forget from time to time that my sarcastic tone doesn't travel well over the internet. :) I think everyone has something to bring to this discussion regardless of their skin color.
Javi, you sure know how to pick the topics! Keep the good work!
